Fifty internally displaced adolescents from 10th and 11th school grades from Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region will join events of the Army Camp project hosted by the country's Defence and Education ministries in the southern town of Akhalkalaki on Sunday, the administration of the former region said.
They joined the initiative aiming to “raise patriotic spirit”, promote a “healthy lifestyle” and “form a stately mentality” among young generations, and is set to run through the weekend.
Georgian Defence Forces units and National Defence Academy representatives will organise “interesting educational meetings” for participants.
Organisers added the project would aim to “deepen knowledge” in civil security, the national defence system and armed forces among young people.
The 2024 edition sees activities hosted at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School in western Georgia and the Basic Combat Training Centre in Akhalkalaki, as well as the Sergeant Academy near the resort town of Kojori near Tbilisi.
This Camp will welcome 2,160 school students in eight groups this year.
