Ongoing water projects in Ozurgeti and Lanchkhuti in the western Georgian region of Guria are set to benefit up to 50,000 people with uninterrupted supply, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia said on Wednesday.
Well-maintained and rehabilitated source structures and reservoirs, as well as a established network, will allow us to provide full coverage. This means that Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti and respective municipalities totalling about 17 villages will have 24-hour water supply”, Minister Irakli Karseladze said after inspecting the ongoing works, while noting the areas had “never had a centralised water supply network before”.
The United Water Supply Company of the Ministry is implementing six rehabilitation and construction projects in the region, with a total cost of ₾115 million ($42.76mln) funded by the state.
The completion of the projects is scheduled in stages through 2026.
