Georgia's Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani on Friday highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership with the United Kingdom during a meeting with Gareth Ward, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Georgia.
The discussion at the Ministry’s Tbilisi office focused on reinforcement of the bilateral cooperation, in particular in defence, and acknowledged the UK's “significant role” in supporting Georgia's sovereignty and NATO integration, the Ministry press office said.
Chikovani also congratulated Ward on his appointment and thanked the UK Government for its “steadfast support and practical assistance” over the years, the press office added.
