Gareth Edward Ward, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Georgia, on Tuesday presented his credentials to the country’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, the Georgian foreign office said.
The officials expressed satisfaction with the existing strategic partnership between the two countries, which they said had as its "cornerstone" the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue, a high-level, annual strategic dialogue format addressing a wide range of political, defence and security ties, trade and economic as well as people-to-people relations.
Darchiashvili extended his “special gratitude” to the Government of the UK for its “unwavering” support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On his part, Ward expressed his readiness to contribute to the further deepening of relations between the two counties, while also emphasising the UK would remain a supporter of Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration.
