Irakli Burchuladze, the Director of Mountain Trails Agency of Georgia, on Friday said the country’s mountainous resort of Bakuriani had “modern infrastructure” to host next year’s Winter European Youth Olympic Festival with “high quality”.
The country’s Ministry of Economy cited Burchuladze as saying the Agency had gained experience of organising “successful championships”, noting the Festival would be hosted at the Didveli ski zone and span a range of disciplines.
This is another step forward for raising awareness of Georgia in the international arena and promoting sports within the country”, he said, adding it was “very significant” for the country to successfully host the Festival.
A Government Commission chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze was established on Thursday to facilitate the hosting of the tournament, with the body tasked with ensuring coordination of the agencies and organisations involved in organising the festival.
