Georgian Government Commission established for Winter European Youth Olympic Festival 2025 to be held in Bakuriani

The Government Commission, chaired by the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, has been established to facilitate the holding of the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani next year, the Government Administration said on Thursday.

The body will ensure the coordination of the agencies and organisations involved in organising the festival and promptly deciding the issues related to the upcoming winter event in Georgia’s mountainous resort Bakuriani.

The Commission is comprised of Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tea Tsulukiani, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Sports, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze, Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, and Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, as well as Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Government Administration and Anzor Chubinidze, the Head of the country’s Special State Protection Service.

Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Tornike Rijvadze, the Chair of the Government of the western Georgian region of Adjara, Otar Arbolishvili, the Mayor of Borjomi Municipality, as well as Leri Khabelov, the President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee, Mamuka Khabareli, the Head of the Organising Committee of the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival, Irakli Burchuladze, the Director of the country’s Mountain Trails Agency and Ekaterine Orjonikidze, the Chair of Bakuriani Development Agency, have also been invited to participate in the work of the Commission.

The Government Administration also noted it would serve as the secretariat of the Commission, adding that representatives of other agencies and organisations could be also invited to be involved in the activities of the newly formed body.
