14 Georgian para athletes to contest Paris Paralympic Games

The Georgian Paralympic team will contest six sports with 14 athletes at the Paris Paralympic Games next month, the Paralympic Committee said on Wednesday. 

Irma Khetsuriani and Nino Tibilashvili will compete in wheelchair fencing, with Giorgi Ockhikidze entering the shot put competition and Davit Kavtaradze javelin throw in athletics.

Ana Japaridze - 54 kg category, Lia Chachibaia – 47 kg, Giorgi Nikoladze – 70 kg will perform  in para taekwondo.

Vladimir Chincharauli will appear in 10-metre rifle shooting R4 and R5 categories and 50-metre R9 section, while Zurab Zurabiani - 60 kg, Giorgi Kaldani – 73 kg, Ina Kaldani +70 kg, Lasha Kizilashvili -90 kg and  Revaz Chikoidze + 90 kg in judo.

Finally, Akaki Jintcharadze will face his rivals in +107 kg powerlifting.

He added the Para athletes would “take over the relay” from Olympians competing in the Summer Games in Paris after its conclusion.
