Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday attended a Paris Summer Olympic Games reception hosted by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, in honour of the leaders of the participating states.

Held at the Élysée Palace, the reception featured heads of states and governments as well as representatives of international organisations, the Government Administration said.

Kobakhidze will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris later today, with 28 athletes from Georgia competing in 10 disciplines at the 33rd Games, including a mixed judo team of women and men for the first time.

The Georgian Government has set a ₾1 million ($364 thousand) award to competitors from the country who earn gold medals, with ₾500,000 ($182 thousand) going to each silver medallist and ₾250,000 ($91 thousand) to bronze winners.
