Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on Friday.
The head of the Government is in the capital of France together with Tea Tsulukiani, the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Sports, the Government Administration said.
28 athletes from Georgia will compete in 10 disciplines at the 33rd Games, including a mixed judo team of women and men for the first time.
The Georgian Government has set a ₾1 million ($364 thousand) award to competitors from the country who earn gold medals, with ₾500,000 ($182 thousand) going to each silver medallist and ₾250,000 ($91 thousand) to bronze winners.
Kobakhidze said the Georgian team had “every starting point to win as many medals as possible and have more champions” at this Olympics.
