Mamuka Mdinaradze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party in the Parliament, on Tuesday vowed the country’s authorities would hold “unprecedentedly democratic” elections in October.

Mdinaradze also claimed there would be an “unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the Government” following the parliamentary elections.

We can guarantee that we will hold elections that will be unprecedentedly democratic in the world, but there will still be an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the Government”, he alleged.

The party official further claimed the objective of the opposition United National Movement party was to ensure smaller political groups to overcome the five-percent electoral threshold and “harm their own country”.
