The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Friday said four people had been arrested for trafficking a disabled person and failing to report a “particularly serious crime”.
The body said the alleged offenders “sexually exploited” the victim using psychological violence, forcing them to provide sexual services for other individuals in exchange for money that was then appropriated by the group.
The investigation also found one of the arrested individuals had failed to report the crime despite having been aware of the activities.
The body also noted the alleged offenders had a criminal record and added the crimes were punishable by up to 14 years of imprisonment.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Tuesday said law enforcement officers had arrested an individual born in 1981 on charges of trafficking.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Friday said its professionals had revealed a minor trafficking scheme and arrested two individuals and brought charges against one more person already in custody at that moment.
The number of crimes reported across Georgia is decreasing, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in its latest update of the figures, adding 64.87 percent of registered crimes had been solved by investigative agencies in 2023.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Saturday said its professionals had arrested four individuals, including Georgian and foreign citizens, on charges of human trafficking.
