Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Saturday said its professionals had arrested four individuals, including Georgian and foreign citizens, on charges of human trafficking.
As the investigation established, two foreign citizens, identified only through their initials, had developed a human trafficking plan, forcing the victims, including persons with disabilities, to beg for money.
The victims were verbally and physically assaulted in case of their noncompliance with the demands of the accused.
Two other detained individuals transported the victims to different locations in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and “supervised” them while asking for money.
The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 12 to 15 years.
