Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Sunday said its professionals had arrested a foreign citizen on charges of human trafficking in Georgia’s western Zestaponi municipality.

As the investigation established, the offender had promised three citizens of Thailand to employ them in a beauty salon in Georgia's Black Sea city of Batumi, after which he had deprived them of their identity documents and forced them to provide sexual services to clients in exchange for certain payments.

Following the arrest, the police officers seized the passports and money, as well as mobile phones and computer equipment as evidence.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 12 to 15 years.
