A new project designed to help Georgian agencies combat human trafficking and supported by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe was launched on Friday.
The project, entitled Combating Trafficking in Human Beings: Sustaining Multi-Agency Collaboration through National Simulation Based Training Exercises, aims to facilitate the introduction of simulation-based training exercises on trafficking in Georgia.
The exercise will enable agencies involved in combatting trafficking to “effectively detect and investigate” cases of human trafficking for the purpose of labour and sexual exploitation, the state body noted.
Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze noted challenges in the field in comments at the event, and highlighted the importance of simulation-based trainings in the work.
He also thanked the OSCE for its support of the project, and its “fruitful cooperation” with the Georgian Interior Ministry over the years.
