The Georgian Government will take “maximum part” in rebuilding Ukraine from the ongoing war “within the limits of its capabilities”, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told media at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on Tuesday.

Ukraine is our friendly country, Ukrainian people are our friendly people and, of course, everyone should ensure as much as possible to restore Ukraine, to return Ukraine to the situation that was created in this country before the war started. This is everyone's responsibility, this is the responsibility of friends”, he said.

He also said Georgia’s “solidarity” towards Ukraine and its people was “very strong” and added the stance was “expressed in political, diplomatic [and] humanitarian support”, adding his country would “continue to act in this spirit”.

Kobakhidze also said the Conference, which is running between Tuesday and Wednesday and aims to garner international support for Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, reforms and modernisation, was “very important”.

The PM noted he had been given the opportunity to make two addresses at the event, in a format involving heads of state as well as between sessions in a meeting with other top officials from European countries.
