Georgian national team and Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on Sunday pledged  the squad would enter the upcoming 2024 European Football Championship aiming to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament with the mindset that “nothing is impossible”.

Kvaratskhelia spoke to Imedi TV channel the team wanted “victory” in Germany, where Georgia will play in Group against Turkey on June 18, Czech Republic on June 22 and Portugal on June 26.

We have a good team, we respect our opponents, but we do not look at their names, and we are only focused on our own game. We are not going to Germany as tourists - we want to win. I think opponents are not happy to play against the Georgian national team”, he added.

The Georgian team defeated Montenegro 3:1 in a friendly match in Podgorica on Sunday with goals by Otar Kiteishvili, Giorgi Mikautadze and Budu Zivzivadze.

Kvaratskhelia said the result earned by his team before the Euros was “of great importance to us”.

I think we are ready for the championship, [and] today's win was important - we are going to Germany in a good mood”, the Georgian player added.

The team claimed their first-ever European Championship qualification after defeating Greece in a penalty shoot-out in the final qualifier match in Tbilisi in March.
