The Georgian Parliamentary delegation on Monday participated in the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Sofia, Bulgaria that discussed reports of Assembly Committees, progress of Georgia in its approximation to NATO and implementation of related reforms, the Georgian Parliament’s press office said.

Assembly participants adopted the declaration reflecting the alliance’s open door policy and support for Georgia.

The Georgian delegation also provided the Assembly with “detailed information” about procedures for the recent adoption of the controversial domestic law on transparency of foreign influence.

The law requires groups “considered to be an organisation pursuing the interests of a foreign power” - determined by more than 20 percent of their funding coming from abroad - to be registered in the public registry with the status and publicise their received funding.

Georgian MPs Khatia Tsilosani, Givi Mikanadze, Giorgi Chakvetadze, Teona Akubardia and Tinatin Bokuchava also met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly and members of the body’s Bureau.
