The Ministry of Finance of Georgia on Wednesday said Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank, highlighted the significance of hosting the Bank’s upcoming annual meeting in Tbilisi and expressed gratitude to Lasha Khutsishvili, the Minister of Finance of the country, for organising the global event at a “high level”.
The body added the meeting between the two officials earlier today noted Georgia had made “significant progress” in recent years in developing the economy in “various directions”, which had manifested itself in the economic growth of the country.
The officials also reviewed regional and multilateral cooperation within the overall context of the ADB meeting.
Khutsishvili expressed his gratitude to Asakawa for “support demonstrated to the county” and expressed hope the partnership would be “eagerly pursued”.
The ADB President arrived in Tbilisi on Tuesday to feature in the meeting, which will be hosted on May 2-5 with nearly 70 events.
Participants will be discussing economic development trends and the role of international financial institutions in achieving economic development goals, including the significance of climate change and other global crisis-born challenges.
