The Georgian national judo team have claimed seven medals, including two gold, two silver and three bronze medals, at the European Judo Championships Seniors in Zagreb and took first place in the overall team competition.
Vazha Margvelashvili and Tato Grigalashvili became champions of the tournament in the -66 kg and -81 kg categories, while Ilia Sulamanidze and Guram Tushishvili won silver medals in the -100 and +100 kg weight categories.
Grigalashvili was named the best male judoka of 2023 by the European Judo Union, with its President László Tóth presenting the award to the Georgian athlete.
Georgian judokas Lasha Shavdatuashvili, Lasha Bekauri and Eteri Liparteliani claimed the bronze medals in their respective weight categories at the Championship, which ran from Thursday till Sunday.
The national team will also participate in the team competition at the European Championships later today.
