Orthodox Christians in Georgia today are celebrating Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, where he was greeted by people waving palm branches.

Believers in Georgia celebrate the holiday by going to a church with candles and boxwood tree branches, which are blessed in the churches with holy water as a symbol of welcoming the Lord.

The Divine Liturgy was performed at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi by Senaki and Chkhorotsku Metropolitan Shio Mujiri, who is the Locum Tenens of the Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
