Tbilisi International Airport in the Georgian capital has obtained the International Air Transport Association’s Safety Audit for Ground Operations certificate, confirming the high level of safety of its ground handling.
TAV Georgia, the company operating Tbilisi and Batumi airports, on Monday said the facility would now become “even more attractive” for airlines interested in the domestic market, as having the ISAGO certificate was a “guarantee of safe operation, high quality and compliance with international standards”.
The body added the Airport had been registered and accredited under the ISAGO, covering its organisation and management, load control, passenger and baggage handling, aircraft handling, loading and aircraft ground movement.
The ISAGO accreditation proves that Tbilisi International Airport provides ground handling service in accordance with international standards and best practices, fully adhering to IATA standards and recommendations”, the company said.
It added the accreditation had begun with IATA auditors conducting a “full-scale” audit of ground handling processes at the facility in 2023.
The certificate is granted to the Airport for two years. TAV Georgia said a recertification audit would be conducted by the IATA after the expiration.
