Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Clare Allbless, the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tbilisi, on Wednesday discussed prospects of launching direct flights between the two countries, the Ministry of Economy said.

We have planned joint activities to achieve this goal. Additionally, we are currently engaged in talks with partner airlines to establish direct flights from London to Tbilisi. In the meeting [...] we also made plans to communicate with a potential partner airline in the coming days”, Kvrivishvili said.

The meeting noted the number of tourists visiting Georgia from the United Kingdom was “increasing significantly every year”, while awareness of Georgia was also growing.

The Ministry cited the Embassy officials as noting British airlines’ interest in launching operations in Georgia, adding the circumstance created “important conditions” for initiation of direct air traffic between the countries.
