Writers' House of Georgia is participating in the Paris Book Festival 2024, one of the most important cultural annual events in Europe, for the first time with a national stand, showcasing Georgian literature and authors and promoting Georgian calligraphy.
Ketevan Dumbadze, the Director of the Writers’ House, Georgian Ambassador to France Gocha Javakhishvili and representatives of the literary field attended the opening of the festival, which is hosting 1,200 publishers and 2,000 authors over the weekend.
The presentation of the Georgian stand was opened with the event titled From Hagiography to Postmodernism, where the festival guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with Georgian calligraphy, the Culture Ministry said.
During the festival, the representatives of the Writers’ House and several Georgian publishing houses and translators are set to discuss Georgian literature at a number of meetings.
Along with the Georgian publishers, the French publishing houses Le Cherche Midi, Gingko, Les Carnets du Dessert de Lune, Meduza and the Italian publishing house Modern Times will present classical and modern Georgian prose and poetry translated into French language.
