The seventh edition of the Paris art festival ‘Un Week-end à l'Est’ will showcase Georgian diverse culture with the country’s capital city of Tbilisi being an honorary guest of the festival.
The festival, translated as ‘A weekend in the East’, is set to run from November 22 to November 27 in Paris and will host over 50 Georgian writers and artists, as well as up to 30 events, including film screenings, photo exhibitions, performances by Georgian musicians and literary events.
The ambassador of the art festival is a Georgian writer and director Nana Ekvtimishvili, with the guest of honour being Nino Haratischwili, a Georgian-born German novelist, playwright, and theatre director.
French author, screenwriter and film director, Emmanuel Carrère, whose mother was a Georgian emigrant in France, will open the seventh edition of the festival.
Founded on the initiative of Vera Michalski and Brigitte Bouchard in 2016, the festival aims to showcase cultures of the Eastern European countries and support the creative freedom of artists.
