Irakli Garibashvili, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday met Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to the country, to discuss existing “friendly relations” between the two countries and matters of cooperation.
The meeting noted “positive dynamics” of the long-term partnership between the countries had been “further strengthened”, the ruling party said.
The officials also discussed the current domestic political situation in Georgia and “ongoing processes” in the wider region.
Garibashvili extended his gratitude to Fischer for his “firm support” for the European Union to grant Georgia its membership candidate status in December, and noted Germany was a “friendly state and reliable partner” of the country.
