Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili on Monday said 100 to 150 “successful” students from domestic medical institutions would have costs of their study and accommodation abroad funded by the Ministry.
The students will be supported with the funds for two to three years and given the opportunity to be employed by state medical clinics after returning to Georgia.
This programme aims to raise the level of qualifications in state clinics and involves the idea of selecting medical schools of Georgia with the highest level of education, and then selecting successful students”, Azarashvili said.
The Minister said the programme would contribute to creating a “very considerable medical asset” in the country.
The budget of the programme for the first stage will reach ₾10 million ($3.77mln).
