The Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry has arrested an employee of a vehicle inspection centre for bribery in capital Tbilisi, the Service said on Friday.
The Service said the offender, who was responsible for conducting testing of vehicles for compatibility with technical regulations, had issued a report confirming adherence to regulations for a vehicle that did not comply to the standards.
In its comments, the body added the offender received ₾150 ($56) in exchange for the service.
The crime is punishable by two to four years in prison.
