The Georgian para taekwondo team successfully competed in two tournaments, among 30 countries, held in Turkey, winning ten medals, the Georgian Paralympic Committee announced on Wednesday.
Seven Georgian athletes, coached by Shota Gochiashvili, took part in the Turkish Open Taekwondo Tournament and the WT President's Cup, with Goga Khakhalashvili and Gela Zarkua claiming gold medals in both tournaments, as well as Giorgi Khizanishvili and Sandro Megrelishvili winning golds at President’s Cup. Khizanishvili also earned a silver medal at the Turkish Open.
Giorgi Nikoladze was awarded silver at the President’s Cup, while Lia Chachibaia managed to claim two bronze medals in both tournaments.
The members of the Georgian national team defeated the strongest opponents from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Hungary, and Iran in the final matches.
