The selection commission tasked with reviewing submissions for the position of the Chair of the newly formed Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday interviewed select candidates, the Government Administration announced.
Members of the commission panel invited eight candidates looking to occupy the position for the agency, established by the ruling party as part of efforts to fulfil the European Union’s conditions for granting the country a membership candidate status.
Following its interviews with citizens aspiring to take the position, the commission will present a shortlist of three nominees to the Prime Minister, with the latter selecting one candidate to lead the Bureau for a term of six years.
The new state body will be tasked with combating corruption, supervising the implementation of the Government's general policy and national strategy against the crime, and coordinating activities of relevant bodies, organisations and officials.
The ruling party announced the creation of the Bureau in October.
