Josep Borrell, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday highlighted Georgia’s “achieved success” and said the country was “doing well” and was on “the right path”.
In his comments to the media, Borrell called the enlargement of the EU “the most important foreign policy of the bloc”.
We [EU] have obligations to many people [waiting for EU membership], we have to hurry up and get the job done. We need to adapt institutional activities to work better with more than 27 members. [...] We must fulfil our promises, avoid disappointment”, the EU High Representative stressed.
Georgia is waiting for the European Council’s decision on EU membership candidate status in the coming days, following the European Commission’s recommendation to the Council in November to grant Georgia the status.
