Enterprise Georgia, the state agency promoting entrepreneurship, investment and exports, on Wednesday said its certification course had trained 500 export managers over the past eight years.

Nika Mamukelashvili, the Head of the Export Department of the body, said the trained professionals “increase the export potential of companies and Georgian products”, in comments on the milestone.

He said the “full realisation” of the export potential of Georgian products and “effective” operation of domestic companies outside the country was “one of the priority directions” of the agency.

It is for this purpose that since 2015 the agency has been conducting a certificate course for export managers every year, which contributes to the adequate positioning of Georgian businesses on foreign markets. We can confidently say this is the only full-fledged course on export issues that prepares qualified export managers for the private sector”, Mamukelashvili added.

The body hosted the graduation for the latest group of export managers at its consulting centre in the western city of Zugdidi, which launched earlier this year and is serving entrepreneurs of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.

The latest certification course was organised by Enterprise Georgia in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network Georgia and Caucasus University, and with support from the Swedish Government.

Aiming to retrain managers for export-oriented companies, improve operations and stimulate export, the course involves 15 modules including goods manufacturing, incoterms and quality infrastructure.
