NATO-Georgia relations, regional matters and future plans were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Mircea Geoană, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO.
Geoană reiterated “unwavering” support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, the Georgian Parliament said.
Papuashvili extended his gratitude to the alliance official for his support and further pointed out Georgia would “continue to make progress on the path of North Atlantic integration”.

“If we compare the democratic institutions of Georgia with NATO member states, then we will see that Georgia is at the appropriate standard. With all these parameters, Georgia has long been ready for NATO to make a political decision”, the lawmaker said following the meeting.
The visiting official also stressed the compatibility of the Georgian defence forces with the alliance.
