Pia Kauma, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, on Saturday said she was “pleased” to visit Georgia during “an important moment” for the country, as it was waiting for the European Union’s membership candidate status to “be officially declared” by the bloc in December.
Kauma told the PA meeting that the OSCE “fully supported” Georgia’s territorial integrity and its promotion of peace dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The OSCE PA President emphasised her visit to the administrative line separating central Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the rest of the country as “very important”, where she had the opportunity to get acquainted with the existing situation.
She added the occupation of Georgia’s territories “could not be accepted under any circumstances”.
