An agreement between Georgia and Austria in the field of Mutual Assistance in Time of Natural and Manmade Disasters and their Prevention was signed on Wednesday by Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.
The “pivotal” agreement, which was signed during the Georgian Deputy Minister’s visit to Austria, will provide “a unique opportunity” to further expand mutual cooperation between the two countries, the Interior Ministry said.

The existing collaboration and the prospects of deepening relations were discussed at the meeting between the Georgian and Austrian sides, also highlighting the significance of productive bilateral cooperation in emergency management.
Darakhvelidze extended his gratitude to the Austrian side for its “significant contribution” to enhancing the capacities of the Ministry and expressed hope to continue this relationship. The parties reaffirmed their “unwavering readiness” to actively advance bilateral cooperation in the future.
As part of the official visit to Austria, the Georgian delegation visited the Fire and Emergency Management Center and the Vienna Police Directorate.
