The Special Investigation Service of Georgia on Monday said its investigative actions had led to 14 individuals being charged with disclosure of personal information of victims between August-October.
The statistics revealed by the state body on Monday showed seven out of the 14 individuals were arrested for the offences, and added one of the arrested had secretly recorded intimate video materials of a woman during a video call before posting them on TikTok.
The offender is set to face up to eight years in prison.
Another offender, also arrested by the Service, had secretly obtained intimate photos and voice messages of his acquaintance, before sending them to the victim’s friends and relatives via Facebook and posting them on social media.
An investigation conducted by the state body showed the other 12 individuals charged with the offence had obtained intimate photos and videos of women in communications on social media, and sent the materials to the victims’ relatives.
Over 300 items of evidence, including photographic and video materials and audio files, were seized as part of the investigation, with the body adding the materials would be destroyed following a court judgment.
