The fruitful cooperation in tourism and civil aviation and future prospects of partnership between Georgia and Saudi Arabia were discussed on Saturday by Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Sultan Al Musallam, the Saudi Arabia Deputy Minister of International Affairs.

At the meeting, held on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation in Uzbekistan, the sides highlighted the increased tourist flows from Saudi Arabia to Georgia, emphasising the country’s popularity as an “attractive and safe tourist destination” was increasing.

The increased frequency of direct flights between the two states was also positively assessed by Kvrivishvili and Al Musallam, the Economy Ministry said, adding nine flights in a week were being carried out from Saudi Arabia to Georgia, with the flight frequency increasing during the summer season.

We are conducting active and targeted marketing campaigns in Saudi Arabia, where interest towards Georgia is growing”, Kvrivishvili said, highlighting the country as “one of the strategic markets” for Georgia.

The parties also hailed the simplification of obtaining e-visas for their citizens, which will have a positive impact on the economic relations of the two countries.
