Robin Dunnigan, the United State’s newly appointed Ambassador to Georgia, on Thursday presented her credentials to the country’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
After the official ceremony, Darchiashvili held an introductory meeting with Dunnigan, with the conversation focusing on current cooperation between Georgia and the US in bilateral and multilateral formats, the Foreign Ministry said.
The sides highlighted the need to deepen cooperation in all priority areas, including the four main directions stipulated by the US-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership - cooperation in defence and security, as well as trade and energy, strengthening democracy and increasing people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

While reviewing the security challenges in the region, Dunnigan reaffirmed the US’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, as well as for the country’s foreign policy priorities - European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Georgian FM briefed the new Ambassador about the country’s progress in fulfilling the 12 priorities outlined by the European Union for granting its membership candidate status, with Darchiashvili expressing hope that implemented reforms in Georgia would be “properly recognised”.
Earlier today in his comments to the media, Darchiashvili said the new US Ambassador would make “a valuable contribution” to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two states, pledging to work “very closely” with Dunnigan to take the existing relations with the US “to a new level”.
Robin Dunnigan arrived in Georgia earlier today, the US Embassy in Georgia said.
