Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday highlighted the “necessity” of Georgia’s territorial integrity and unification in order to be a “perfect and strong state”.
Therefore, this [unification] should be the main goal of all political forces, of all our citizens. [...] We are moving towards this objective in a planned manner. Each of our pragmatic, thoughtful, intelligent actions and steps brings us closer to this great goal”, the PM emphasised.
Garibashvili told the media that obtaining the European Union membership candidate status would make the country “more attractive” for “Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers and sisters”.
He stressed that Abkhazians and Ossetians were facing “many problems” and he could not “see a perspective” for them to “continue developing” without Georgia. “They [Abkhazians and Ossetians] see how much progress Georgia has made in such a short period of time”, the PM added.
The Head of the Government said the united Georgia would “automatically become a completely different country” and would be one of “the most exemplary countries not only in the region but also in the world”.
The Government’s peaceful policy was highlighted in this regard by the PM, who added that Georgia did not want “war, conflict or confrontation with anyone, we want peaceful coexistence in a united, strong Georgia”.
