Business Universal state programme expands with electricity production component

The Business Universal programme of Georgia’s export promotion agency Enterprise Georgia now includes electricity production to increase financial availability of business loans for a "maximum number" of  entrepreneurs.

The Ministry of Economy on Monday said in order to benefit from the loans or leasing options offered as part of the programme, infrastructure qualified for it would be required to produce solar, wind or hydro energy with the installed capacity of under 0.5 megawatts.

This programme will activate the construction of small hydropower plants in Georgia, which, on the one hand, is important on the way to our energy independence, and on the other hand, additional income, jobs and incomes will be created in the country”, Deputy Economy Minister Romeo Mikautadze said. 

He added the programme had already included one project while aiming to eventually include “several dozen”.
