David Bakradze, the Georgian Ambassador to the United Nations, on Sunday said the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili would hold “high-level meetings” on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly and address the gathering in New York.

Bakradze previewed the PM’s visit - set to start on Monday - and said bilateral meetings would be dedicated to challenges caused by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict for the South Caucasus region, situation in Georgia's currently Russian-occupied regions, and the country's “progress” in implementing reforms and achieving sustainable development goals.

The high-level week of the Assembly’s 78th session will open on Monday, with the general debate following on Tuesday before the event closes on September 28.

World leaders will discuss and debate how to confront multitudes of international crises and find strategies to accelerate action on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UN press office said last week.
