The Georgian Interior Ministry on Saturday said it had arrested one individual in eastern Kakheti region for connections with “criminal underworld”, as well as for illegal purchase and possession of firearms.
The investigation established that the arrested individual, identified only through his initials, actively participated and arranged “thief-in-law trials” to resolve financial disputes, the Ministry noted.
During the search of the individual and his residential house, the law enforcement seized a revolver and five cartridges, as well as a mobile phone the arrested used to communicate with each other and with members of the “criminal underworld” abroad.
The crimes are punishable by up to six years in prison.
