Goga Bitadze, a player of Georgia’s national basketball team, on Tuesday said the squad would “fight only for victory” against Venezuela tomorrow in its third match of the ongoing FIBA World Cup.
Bitadze was commenting to preview the Group F game, set to be hosted at Okinawa Arena in the Japanese city, and predicted a “principled game” against the opponents after their loss to Slovenia on Monday left Georgia second in the group with one win and one defeat.
“We have entirely switched our focus to the next game [...] we have studied our opponents very well [...] we have no room for retreat left and will fight only for victory”, the centre told the Georgian Public Broadcaster.
The Georgian team are second behind Slovenia in the group, with leaders sitting on four points, Georgia and Cape Verde on three and Venezuela on two. The bottom three teams of the group all maintain a chance to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament.
