Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III on Thursday discussed the historical ties between the churches of Georgia and Jerusalem at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
As part of his visit to Israel, Garibashvili and the Patriarch also reviewed the current situation in the world and stressed the importance of peace and stability, the Government Administration said.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday told his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu the two countries were connected with a “special bond and friendship”.
”Main areas” of cooperation between Georgia and Israel, and prospects of further deepening the existing cooperation between the countries were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, on Thursday told his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili ties between their nations could be “raised to an even higher level”.
Lasha Zhvania, the Georgian Ambassador to Israel on Wednesday said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s visit to the country would “give a new beginning to [discussing] many issues”, including economic relations between the two countries and the inflow of investments to Georgia.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday called Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s ongoing visit to Israel “very important and timely” and noted it would “strengthen and deepen” already existing fruitful cooperation between the countries, which would be valuable for the Jewish and Georgian people.
Lasha Zhvania, the Georgian Ambassador to Israel on Thursday said the relations between Georgia and Israel were developing “dynamically” and noted cooperation “has been constantly growing” in all directions, including trade and economic relations.
