Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, on Thursday told his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili ties between their nations could be “raised to an even higher level”.
Hosting the head of the Georgian Government, Netanyahu highlighted “longstanding warm relations” between the two countries and noted historical ties of Jewish communities in Georgia, who he said had “become a living bridge between our countries”.
In his comments, Garibashvili noted the scheduled launch of negotiations of a free trade deal with Israel next year, adding bilateral economic, defence and security cooperation “continue to strengthen”.
He also highlighted the “special relationship and friendship” between the two nations and noted the Jewish community in Georgia had “always felt friendship, full support and comfort” from the wider public.
