The National Environmental Agency of Georgia on Saturday said the expected, consequential processes were taking place in the country’s western Shovi resort, following the landslide that killed at least 24 people on August 3 and noted the mentioned processes were “not dangerous at this stage”.
The Agency said a rockfall was reported in the Buba riverbed in the disaster area, which was expected after such a “large-scale” natural disaster.

Earlier today, the Interior Ministry announced that the search area in the disaster zone was expanded and search operations continued actively with the involvement of rescue boats, police units, firefighters and rescuers, as well as a group of cynologists.
The Ministry added that drones and special equipment were also involved in the search operation for nine people in the disaster area.
Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze on Friday said 103 units of heavy hardware were being used in 10 locations for the search and clearing operations in the disaster-affected zone in the western municipality of Oni, where a landslide killed at least 24 last week.
Rescuers have recovered the body of the 22nd victim of the Shovi resort landslide in Georgia’s west, Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, the head of the Georgian Emergency Management Service, said on Friday, with at least 11 people still missing.
Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, the head of the Emergency Management Service of Georgia, on Thursday said the Government had used “all resources available” and ensured “far more than reasonable effort” to respond to the landslide in the country’s western Shovi resort last week that killed 21 people.
Nino Tandilashvili, the Deputy Environment Minister, on Wednesday said it was “practically impossible” to forecast the development of “such a complex” natural disaster - a landslide that hit the resort of Shovi in the western Georgian region of Racha on August 3.
Temur Mgebrishvili, the Head of the Emergency Management Service on Sunday said intensive works were actively proceeding in the disaster area in the country’s western Shovi resort, following the landslide that killed at least 24 people on August 3.
Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri on Sunday arrived in the disaster-affected zone in the western municipality of Oni, where a landslide killed at least 24 on August 3 and expressed his “deepest sorrow” to the families of the deceased, noting relevant units “have done their best in the shortest possible time” in disaster relief efforts.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he was “deeply saddened” by the landslide that killed 24 in western Georgia’s Shovi resort on August 3 in a letter sent to the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian Foreign Office said.
The Georgian Interior Ministry on Tuesday said rescuers had combed through 90 percent of the area hit by the landslide in the Shovi resort in the country’s west on August 3, with 26 bodies recovered and seven people still missing.
Rescuers have recovered the body of the 29th victim of the Shovi resort landslide in Georgia’s west, with four people still missing, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Tuesday.
