Deputy Interior ministers Ioseb Chelidze and Giorgi Butkhuzi, as well as the Head of the Emergency Management Service Temur Mghebrishvili, on Saturday inspected the disaster zone in the western municipality of Oni, after a landslide killed at least 11 in the Shovi resort on Thursday, from the helicopter together with the families of missing persons.
The family members received detailed information about the ongoing search and rescue works from the officials, the Interior Ministry noted.
Representatives of the Ministry and the families of the missing victims of the disaster met yesterday, during which they expressed their desire to closely examine the difficult situation in the landslide-affected area.
The search operation for the missing people has been going on continuously for the third day, with firefighters, rescuers, police units, drones, special equipment and a border police helicopter involved in the works. A group of cynologists from the Emergency Management Service is also taking part in the operation, the Ministry said.
