Teams of Georgia’s Red Cross Society on Friday arrived in the Oni municipality of western Georgia to ensure support for rescuers and communities affected by the landslide that hit the Shovi resort on Thursday.
The Europe Office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said the teams had been designated to assist the efforts in the aftermath of the disaster that claimed seven lives.
Dozens of people are missing and some are dead in a landslide affecting the Shovi area in eastern Georgia. Roads and bridges are destroyed.

The Georgian Interior Ministry on Friday said 400 rescuers were involved in the search and rescue efforts for 35 missing individuals, after 210 were evacuated from the disaster zone since late Thursday.
The rescue crews are using two helicopters and other special hardware in the ongoing operation, with authorities confirming the disaster had “severely affected” infrastructure in the locality.
