Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will leave for China on Wednesday to attend the opening ceremony of the 31st FISU Summer World University Games, a multi-sport event hosted in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.
The competition will feature 50 Georgian students among over 10,000 athletes and officials from over 150 states involved in 18 sports between July 28-August 8.
The head of the Government has “high-level” meetings planned in the city, followed by discussions with Chinese officials in Beijing, the Government Administration said.
Georgian Ambassador to China, Archil Kalandia and Georgian guests were surprised at the recording of the TV programme with a Georgian song performed by a Chinese children's choir in Beijing, the Georgian foreign office told Agenda.ge on Saturday.
The implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China over the past five years was discussed on Friday by the Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Genadi Arveladze and Han Yong, the Department Head of WTO Affairs of the Chinese Commerce Ministry, in a joint commission meeting held in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
