Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Monday said his Government “supported and respected” Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, in comments for the launch of the Georgian Embassy in Zagreb.
The Georgian Government Administration said Plenković and his counterpart Irakli Garibashvili highlighted the importance of the opening of the diplomatic office in Croatia in their remarks.
Garibashvili said he was “honoured” to be visiting the country, and added the occasion came on the backdrop of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Georgian PM also said the opening of the Embassy “once again confirmed” the “great interest and commitment” to the “friendship and partnership” between them.
He also extended his gratitude to Plenković for “warm welcome and hospitality”, and for supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
In his remarks, Plenković called Garibashvili’s first official visit to Croatia a “historic occasion” and reaffirmed support for peaceful resolution of conflicts on Georgia’s territory.
He noted his Government “firmly supported” Georgia in the direction of European and Euro-Atlantic “ambitions and aspirations” by voting in favour of granting the country a European perspective and the European Union membership candidate status.
