Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Monday said more than 50 airline companies operating on the Georgian airline market with around 60 direct flights contributed to the increase of international visitors to Georgia up to 2.8 million.
By assessing the Georgian Government’s “correct” tourism strategy and action plan, Kvrivishvili pointed out the figures published by the Georgian National Tourism Administration, under which 2,860,117 foreign travellers had visited the country this year from January to June, with a 74 percent restoration of the pre-pandemic figures.
The Georgian Government is working on increasing passenger traffic capacity and ensuring direct flights with the strategic target countries for Georgia - the European Union and the Persian Gulf countries, in an effort to attract more visitors to the country, she noted.
The Deputy Minister added passenger flow statistics were restored at Georgian airports by 100 percent over the first half of the year and returned to the pre-pandemic level.
